The six plans released by the Lower Manhattan Development Corporation (LMDC) in July met with considerable criticism from the public. These plans begin to address only a handful of the 49 visions for the future of the site and region that were crafted by Imagine New York participants this spring. The Imagine New York visions offer an alternative program for the site, Lower Manhattan, and the region, expressed in the words of the public.

Our standard letter: (you can also edit if needed)	Dear LMDC, I strongly urge you to read and incorporate the 49 visions outlined in The People�s Visions: The Imagine New York Summary Report in any and all decision-making regarding the future of the World Trade Center site, Lower Manhattan, the City and the region as a whole. Imagine New York was developed by a coalition of over 100 civic, cultural and community groups throughout the region to give people a chance to weigh in on how to rebuild downtown and revitalize communities after September 11. The visions in the Summary Report were crafted by members of the general public based on thousands of ideas gathered from over 4,000 participants in Imagine New York workshops and through the Imagine New York website. From memorializing the victims of September 11 to creating affordable housing downtown; restoring the skyline to improving the public transit system, the Imagine New York visions reflect the many concerns of a range of citizens throughout the region. Together, they provide a creative, informed and feasible alternative program to that of the Lower Manhattan Development Corporation and Port Authority. Rebuilding our city and our communities must be based on a democratic process with as much public input as possible. Including the results of Imagine New York is a great start.
